Travis Baker is widely regarded as one of Australia's finest organists, having collected an array of prizes and awards including the Harold Charles Chatfield medal for excellence in Organ Performance three times. Having gained a music scholarship to Trinity Grammar School, Melbourne, he began learning the organ while a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral, Melbourne, where he was appointed Assistant Organist in 1997. Travis is also very involved with vocal coaching. While Director of Training Choirs for the Australian Children's Choir from 2002 – 2004, having four choirs under his tutelage, he developed his own training programme to incorporate sight singing, theory, vocal technique and repertoire. Travis took up the role of Director of Music for the Bromley Boy Singers in September 2005 and is also Assistant Organist of the Parish Church of St Michael, Highgate. He is continuing his studies with concert organist Dame Gillian Weir and pursuing singing working with Estill Vocal Workshops. Travis has extensive playing commitments, performing regular recitals, teaching music and accompanying. |
