The organ was built, in 1936, for Lady Susi Jeans of Cleveland Lodge. It was designed by David Eule and built by Hermann Eule of Bautzen, Germany. The tracker action and casework were provided by Hill & Son and Norman & Beard. In 1950, the Krumhorn and Tertian were added but, otherwise, the organ remains as original.
In 2007, the instrument was generously donated to Birmingham Conservatoire by The Royal School of Church Music, following the organisation's move from Cleveland Lodge. It was given a thorough overhaul, including a new blower. The original case work was also completely refurbished. The pitch is standard (523.3 Hz). The stop actions are pneumatic. The manual and pedal actions are mechanical. The manual compass is 58 notes and the pedal is 30 notes. |
