The first permanent organ was installed in 1923 by the Leicester-based firm of S. Taylor & Son. In 1961, J. W. Walkers undertook a complete overhaul of the instrument, replacing the tubular-pneumatic action with electro-pneumatic, and making a number of tonal modifications. Further work - undertaken by Kenneth Canter and Michael Davidson, in 1980 - included repairs to the swell box mechanism and the replacement of all electro-magnets. A complete overhaul was undertaken in 2003 by Nicholson of Worcester.
